Dr. Grace Ann Gibby is a Professional Counselor in Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas. Her educational background includes a Bachelors of Science in Education, and a Master of Science in School Counseling and a Doctoral Degree in Counselling Education and Supervision. With nearly 19 years of counseling experience, she has practiced in school settings in both Florida and The Bahamas and recently opened a private practice. Grace Ann has worked with children and adults, and seeks to provide affordable therapeutic services on an island with limited accessibility. She has mostly worked with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma.

As a Bahamian citizen studying mental health in the United States via distance education, Grace Ann has learned about the difference in cultures and the importance of cultural sensitivity. This has led to advocacy for international students studying abroad and she led a team that submitted a manuscript titled: Supporting International Students in a Doctoral CES program.
Grace Ann’s passions include creating awareness about mental health, and educating the population to reduce stigma. Her dissertation topic focused on the interaction between spirituality, mental health disorders and self-stigma. The Bahamas is a country where religiosity plays an integral role and this perspective tends to be in conflict with engaging psychotherapeutic services. As a Christian Therapist, her goal is to provide a safe place for the local population to stay rooted in their faith and receive therapeutic services as needed.
